On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2025, Yves Salomon presents its new project with Pierre Marie, a 17-piece collection of unique intarsia shearling objects and limited edition soft furnishings all made in the brand’s Paris ateliers.
With this collection, Yves Salomon and artistic director Tamara Taichman continue their adventure into the world of design and launch Yves Salomon Editions, under the creative direction of Marcellin Boyer.
Pierre Marie unveils a bucolic narrative of heaven and earth unfolds across two themes: “La Prairie » and “Le Firmament”. In the former, a flourish of looped ribbons and bows, geometric leaves and blossoms weaves across a magical meadow, whilst the latter looks upward depicting a sky blanketed where western stars, striped beads and curls of paisley arabesques compose a textile cosmogony.
Presented in the medieval courtyard of Via Santo Spirito 7, this dreamlike collection includes seats, blankets, stools, cushions and a lamp that each radiate with Pierre Marie’s singular ornamental vision brought to life with meticulous craftsmanship, considering the origin story of sheepskin as a material and its inherent link with humankind for millennia.
The collection’s two hero pieces are a pair of sculptural intarsia seats entirely upholstered in Spanish merino shaved shearling that represent a child-like memory of the sheep itself. They signify a playful nod to the Lalannes, the sophisticated toy furniture of Renate Muller, and the innocent experimentation of the great Gaetano Pesce. Their resplendent upholstery forms a seamless covering consisting of 1200 individual pieces in a warm palette of natural tones, from dark peach and honey to cornflower blue, olive, chocolate, aubergine, lilac and chartreuse.
Each pattern continues throughout the collection in custom configurations for square throw pillows and a large bolster cushion, flat cylindrical stools and a banner-shaped ceiling lamp upholstered entirely in lambskin.
